I was wandering around the web last night, looking for some pulley-to-pulley ratio calculators, and I found a great circle index calculator that could be helpful lining up basket illusion bowls or creating your own index wheel for other projects. It makes circles with increments or ticks of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, 24, 30, 36, 40, 45, 60, 72, 90, 120, 180 & 360. You can make a circle of any size up to 32″, and all the options for tick marks, lines to center, center and side holes, etc is impressive. You save your circle out to a PDF file; I printed out an 8″ test circle at 100% on my laser printer and it was true to size. Check it out!

A second option is the hub, spoke and spindle template maker, which will give you any integer indexing. I thought the rim “tape” was interesting – it is designed to circle the wheel and spot where spoke holes should drilled. I can think of some great uses for woodturning projects, wrapping around the outside of a cylinder or bowl lip…
