The Coffee Hour and Club Meeting Zoom videos are created by LAW members for your enjoyment. Please let us know (through the Comments Page) what topics you’d like to see, or if you have videos from your club that you’d like to share. Zoom has had a wonderfully positive impact on the Lancaster Area Woodturner’s community, as we’ve continued to offer online access to our weekly Coffee Hours and Monthly meetings to an audience that literally stretches across the globe. As such, we have had numerous requests come in asking about our Zoom setup – looking to get detail on the cameras, microphones, switchers, lighting, the layout of the shop, and much more.

Below are highly comprehensive documents assembled by John Kelsey, Resident Zoom Czar, after hundreds of Zoom meetings and the evolution of LAW’s AV hardware. Please feel free to download and apply to your own club’s virtual meeting experience.

The following documents pertain to accessing Zoom and Q&As regarding Zoom security. We recommend joining our meetings using a laptop or desktop PC to fully experience the feature benefits of Zoom. Tablets and smart phones are acceptable alternatives, but much of what Zoom offers is not accessible through tablets or smart phones.

The following was developed by Susquehanna Woodturners and approved for posting here. Much thanks to our sister club to the west! You can check them out at SWT

Some members have expressed concern about using Zoom. Below is an updated Zoom Security Document and we encourage you to read it thoroughly. Keep in mind that if you are sharing your screen to show a Powerpoint, YouTube video or pictures of work in progress, all attendees can see everything you see, so if you choose “Desktop” as your shared screen, attendees see your entire desktop. If screen sharing, we advise sharing only the active window that pertains to the topic you are sharing. Reach out to John or Mike through the “Comments” page on this site if you have questions.
