The Wood Database creator: Eric Meier

As LAW has more than doubled in size over the past three years, we now have members regularly joining us from across the US, Canada, and Europe. An interesting aspect of such a global reach is the member’s local availability of wood species, which often comes up in conversation. Identifying wood can be a challenge, so we jump onto The Wood Database (wood-database.com) to filter through and narrow down the identifying characteristics.

As stated on their website: “With around 600 species currently on the site, that’s only about one fourth of the total collection represented. There’s a lot more room to grow! But I’m always on the lookout for new woods. Let me know if you’ve got something interesting that you’d like to donate to the site; or else perhaps we could trade wood samples too!”

Don’t let that beautiful woodturned project go unnamed – check out the wood database and learn a bit about woods of the world!
